I’m Being Ruthless In 2024

This year I’ve attempted many things.

I tried some new income streams, failed with some but succeeded with others.

One of the successes has been this newsletter.

This is already the 30th edition!

I’ve enjoyed seeing the growth, the positive responses that I have had and the community that is being built.

However, you can’t succeed at everything in life and next year I’m choosing to be more disciplined with my focus.

I want to continue scaling my KDP business to new heights whilst growing my twitter following and this Newsletter.

I have many reasons why I believe Twitter is the most underrated social media platform but I’ll share this in the coming weeks.

I will still be creating Youtube videos and writing on Medium however I want to improve the quality of my output on both platforms so I will be posting less.

I would love to hear some of your plans for 2024 by simply replying to this email.

This Amazon Seller Was Sued $250k

Imagine waking up to the shock horror of being sued $250k for selling a product on Amazon.

This happened to Nicole Harness, a small-scale print-on-demand seller, who faced an overwhelming $250,000 lawsuit for selling tumblers with the image of country star Luke Combs.

Starting as a simple venture inspired by a concert, it quickly spiralled into a legal nightmare due to infringement of intellectual property laws.

I share Nicole’s story below and the importance of adhering to copyright and trademark laws.

KDP Niche Of The Week - Budget Planners

Understanding Budget Planners

A budget planner is an organizational tool designed to help individuals manage their finances effectively.

It typically includes sections for tracking income, expenses, savings goals, and debt repayment plans.

People need budget planners to gain better control over their finances, especially at the start of a new year when financial resolutions are at their peak. This demand makes budget planners particularly popular on Amazon during Q1.

Step 1: Research and Niche Targeting

  1. Market Research: Start by researching existing budget planners on Amazon. Use the 'Look Inside' feature to understand the types of content and layouts that are popular.

  2. Read Customer Reviews: Reviews can offer insights into what customers like and dislike, helping you identify gaps in the market.

  3. Niche Down: Find a low-saturated niche within the budget planner category. Use the Amazon search bar to find keywords to target. You could focus on specific groups like students, families, or small business owners.

Step 2: Creating Your Budget Planner

  1. Content Development: Go beyond basic pages. Include diverse sections like monthly budget, savings trackers, bill payment logs, and financial goal-setting pages.

  2. Design Tools: Utilize resources like Creative Fabrica for interior designs, which you can then personalize.

  3. Freelancer Assistance: If design isn't your strength, consider hiring a freelancer on Fiverr to create a unique and functional layout.

  4. Cover Design: Your cover should be visually appealing and relevant to your target audience. Use tools like Canva for design inspiration.

Step 3: Uploading to Amazon KDP

Once your planner is ready:

  1. Format it as per Amazon KDP's guidelines.

  2. Upload your planner, ensuring that all details like the book description, categories and book price are accurate and compelling.

Step 4: Marketing and Running Ads

  1. Ad Campaigns: Set up Amazon ad campaigns targeting similar best-selling budget planners. Use manual ads to refine your targeting.

  2. Keyword Strategy: Select keywords related to budgeting and personal finance that are likely to be used by your target audience. Target similar bestselling books using manual product ads.

  3. Monitor and Adjust: Keep track of your ad performance and make adjustments as needed to ensure your budget planner reaches the right customers.

How Writing Online Will Make You A Millionaire

I love the process of writing online and sharing my journey with everyone. I was inspired watching this interview with Nathan Barry, CEO of ConvertKit, he shared an incredible journey of how writing online transformed his life, leading to a software company valued at over $100 million.

His approach was unique: he committed to writing a thousand words daily for 600 days, a discipline that significantly contributed to his success.

He emphasizes that while writing is simple, it's not always easy. It requires a deep commitment and a willingness to learn and grow continuously.

In his interview with Ali Abdaal, Nathan discusses the importance of teaching everything you know and working in public.

He believes in sharing your journey and learnings with the world, which not only helps others but also establishes you as an expert in your field.
