This month, I’ve really been reflecting on how far my online businesses have come since I started in 2020.

The journey hasn't been easy, but it's been incredibly rewarding.

I might given up if I believed all the misconceptions and naysayers but in life, it’s important to persevere and find out the truth for yourself.

One of my most successful online businesses is Amazon KDP and I wanted to tackle some shocking lies I’ve continually heard since I started self-publishing.

Last week’s poll regarding reviewing your book in the newsletter had an overwhelming majority (83.33%) choosing yes!

KDP Niche Of The Week - Travel Guide Books

Understanding Travel Guide Books

A travel guidebook provides information about a particular destination or a collection of destinations.

It includes insights on places to visit, local customs, accommodation, dining options, and often personal anecdotes or tips.

These books are especially popular on Amazon in Q1 as people start planning their holidays for the upcoming year.

A well-timed, well-crafted travel guide for 2024, for example, can find a keen audience looking to plan their trips.

Step 1: Research and Niche Targeting

1. Market Research: Use Amazon to study existing travel guides. Pay attention to popular destinations, formats, and what readers are currently buying.

2. Customer Reviews: Look at what readers enjoy and what they feel is missing in current guides.

3. Niche Down: Find a less saturated niche, like focusing on a specific year (like 2024) or unique destinations. Consider creating a guide for less-explored regions or themes.

Step 2: Creating Your Travel Guide

1. Content Creation: Gather comprehensive and up-to-date information about your chosen destination(s). Include must-visit spots, hidden gems, and practical tips.

2. Using AI Tools: Tools like ChatGPT can assist with research, and Midjourney can help generate pictures.

3. Hiring Freelancers: Platforms like Fiverr or Upwork can connect you with experienced writers and researchers who specialize in travel content.

4. Cover and Interior Design: Ensure your cover is visually appealing and reflective of the destination. Invest in a colorful interior to make the guide more engaging, allowing you to set a higher price point.

Step 3: Uploading to Amazon KDP

1. Preparation: Carefully format your book as per KDP guidelines. Ensure it's error-free and ready for a smooth reader experience.

2. Disclosure: If you've used AI for content creation, make sure to disclose this information.

3. Uploading Process: Take your time when uploading to Amazon KDP, double-checking all details for accuracy.

Step 4: Marketing and Running Ads

1. Running Ads: Don't rely solely on organic sales. Set up Amazon ads to promote your book. Experiment with both automatic ads for broad targeting and manual ads for specific keywords or to target similar books.

Creating a travel guidebook for Amazon will take time but it has huge potential. A well-made travel guide not only earns revenue but also guides and enriches the travel experiences of your readers.

How I Made $500+ Passively In One Day

I recently achieved a huge milestone – earning over $500 in a single day, passively, through my online business.

On December 20th, I broke my personal earnings record, something I could never have achieved with my 9-5 job.

It took me a few years to reach this point, but the effort was worth it. An online business, unlike a regular job, offers exponential earning potential.

1. Amazon KDP

The majority of my earnings, $499.35, came from Amazon KDP.

This was my biggest day ever on the platform, surpassing what I earned in my first five months.

It's proof that patience and persistence pay off. My top sellers were three activity books, followed by a quiz book and a coloring book.

My ad spend for the day was just $79.83.

2. Medium

On Medium, I earned $14.77, even though I wrote less this month due to the festive season.

My articles received 607 views that day, well above my daily average for the previous month.

3. Youtube

On YouTube, I made $9, having posted only three videos this month.

I’m building a team to help with content creation, reinvesting back into this business to ensure I maintain an active presence on the platform.

4. Affiliate Marketing

I also earned $2 from affiliate marketing. I regularly share links to products and services on social media. While it may seem small, these earnings add up, and each day is different.

Final Thoughts

I always celebrate my wins, big or small, and December 20th is a day for the record books.

This achievement is a reminder of why building an online presence is essential, whether for additional income or to eventually replace a full-time job.

Anyone can achieve success online.
