Passive Income Report For July

Welcome to my July passive income report. I’ll provide you with a breakdown of some of my passive income streams and the steps I’ve taken to maintain each income. My hope in sharing this is that it encourages you to diversify and try out different income streams.

Amazon KDP -$4497.43

July was my highest month of the year, with a 12% increase from May. I only had 2 days when I earned under $100.

My top 3 best-selling books of the month included 2 activity books and a log book.

For my ads, I focused on three markets: the US, UK, and Canada. My US ad spend was $123.48, with an ACoS (Advertising Cost of Sale) of 30.99%. The UK saw more spending at $754.19, with an ACoS of 25.93%. In Canada, I spent $1.50 but did not make any sales.

My total income for July 2023 was $4497.46, with expenses of $1386.57 (including ads, subscriptions to Creative Fabrica, Mid-Journey Chat GTP Plus, Canva, and additional costs for the UK market). This resulted in a net income of $3110.89.

Youtube -$620.07

I only uploaded 5 videos during the month of July. My income is 29% down from the previous months as I took a longer break this month to renew and refresh my mind.

Youtube is a great income source however it is the most time-consuming and you need to keep uploading videos in order to maintain views and income.

Digital Products -$353.83

I launched my first digital product in June and I’ve been really excited by the uptake and response.

I’ve had great feedback so far and it gives me the confidence to launch even better products in the future.

I’ve been using Payhip, for my digital products and services and promoting these products and services through my social media platforms.

Affiliate Marketing -$241.31

I create videos about products and services I use for my online businesses across social media platforms. It’s important to build up trust with your audience first and once you have a dedicated audience, they are more likely to use your affiliate link.

Medium -$147.01

July was my second $100+ month and I really enjoy developing my writing process, the feedback and learning from other writers.

I wrote 11 articles during the month which is the lowest amount I wrote in a month on medium so far. I’m going to test out writing an article a day during the month of August to see how it affects my earnings.

Instead of my usual niche of the week section this week I will include a niche list to help my subscribers target low-competition in-demand niches. This edition of niche list will only include activity books and planners. Each keyword has books with very low BSR’s under 50,000.

You can copy and paste the terms into the Amazon search bar and start your research from there. Remember to NEVER copy anyone’s exact book, be inspired and create something unique.

One of the question I always get asked ‘how I was able to stay consistent with Amazon KDP?’

I started selling books on Amazon KDP back in June 2020 and while I didn’t get off to an amazing start, I continued to focus on small steps of progress.

I took my time to develop my research methods to find book ideas customers would be interested in. I watched countless videos to understand more about the importance of keywords and I hired designers to create quality book covers to attract more customers to buy my books.

It can be quite frustrating at the start if you focus on the day-to-day or month-to-month progress as you might not see many book sales initially. I knew that this is a business I want to work on long term so I like to focus on my year-on-year growth. This helps me not to get caught up in the short term but focused on doing the activities that will grow my business long term.

My Medium Side Hustle

This week we will be taking a look at Medium. Medium is an online publishing platform and community where anyone can post articles and essays and get them in front of their audience of millions of monthly readers.

Writing on Medium has been an exceptional experience for me. I wrote my first article on 2nd March this year and since then I have made $427.95 from my articles.

The platform has provided me with a broad audience that I might not have reached otherwise. The community is vast, diverse, and highly engaged, and it's a great feeling to know that my writing has the potential to reach millions of readers globally.

I've found that the platform's layout and functionality make it easy to create content that's not only beautiful to look at but also engaging and easy to read.

Medium's algorithms also do an excellent job of matching my articles with readers who are genuinely interested in the subjects I write about. Additionally, through the Medium Partner Program, I have the opportunity to earn money based on the engagement my articles receive, which is a rewarding way to monetize my passion for writing.

It also serves as a wonderful platform to promote my self-published books, eBooks, courses, and affiliate links. Each article I write can serve as a stepping stone for readers to explore more of my work and I have created some awesome relationships with writers on the platform.

There has never been a better time to start writing on the platform as Medium has recently made some huge changes. One of the biggest changes involves the medium partner program, previously to apply for the medium partner program you had to have at least 100 followers however this is now longer a requirement.

You can apply for the medium partner program today and begin a new passive income stream. The process includes: is you have to be a paid member ($5) a month, you need to have published a story in the last 6 months, be located in a eligible country and be over 18 year’s old.
